New Orleans…HERE I COME!!
Well, guess what…we are still going to New Orleans. Last night I was so scared that all my planning and anticipation will be for naught. I was shaving and all my other “manscaping” duties and my friend Steve called me and told me that we may not be going to Decadence. My heart just sank. I just finished shaving and sat on the couch. I was so looking forward to my trip. A trip to get away from work and the family..a trip to enjoy hanging out with my friends and other people just like me.
But this morning, I got up bright and early and I turned on WREG (News Channel 3 out of Memphis) and Todd Demers showed that damn Gustav would be going west of New Orleans. That got me all excited. I hurried up, put on my clothes, brushed my teeth, & made my bed and headed out the door. My only thought was getting to work and checking the forecast on www.nhc.noaa.gov (which is the National Hurricane Center in Miami). I was very excited that it may not hit until Tuesday or Wednesday. I know it may seem like I’m excited that the hurricane will hit, but i’m not. I don’t want that storm to come up here. I just wish it would do a 180 degree turn and go back where it came from and dissapate. New Orleans is a WONDERFUL city. A city full of history, excitement & decadence for all people.
Well, we are supposed to be leaving around 9 am from my friend Steve’s house and that should put us at the Omni by the latest 4 PM. We then have the Decadent Ducks welcome party at 6. So it’s going to be busy from the time we get there to the time we leave. There are events planned all over the quarter..dances, street parties, etc. I’m looking forward to it.
Well, let me get off of here and get everything finished up so I can leave at 3:30. I have got to go and get my eyebrows did and my fake tan did. Well, have a safe and wonderful Labor Day!!
Go away GUSTAV!
Well in little less than 42 hours till I’m on my way to New Orleans for Southern Decadence, I’m getting kinda apprehensive about Gustav in the Caribbean. I have been looking forward to this trip for going on three months now. This is my first one and I’m so excited. We are staying at the Omni New Orleans with the Decadent Ducks. I am going to pray that this will not hit New Orleans because for one..it’s such a remarkable American city. I know that Christian radicals will say that the reason for this to happen is because of Decadence and that makes me sad for them because they have to fill themselves up with hate for them to fill better and that’s no way to live.
But anyhoo…I’m planning on going though. I talked to my friend Steve, our crusing director, and he told me “Little country girl, you just need to calm down.” I should because who knows where this storm will go. It’s still 3-5 days out. I’m going to go about my business like nothing has happened and I think that is the way it should be. Well, hope to see you all down there
Lots of love and please be careful & safe!!
