Overall weekend
Well, I give the whole weekend about a B. I had a pretty good weekend. Didn’t get a whole lot of sleep, but what do you expect for a weekend like I had.
I got to Memphis around 7 p.m. on Thursday. Everyone came over and just chit chatted about the trip and we eventually went to bed around 11:30. One of Steve & Lee’s good friends, Ty, came and I let him have the sofa while I slept on the floor. Steve’s floor is hard as a rock!! LOL I got up around 7 pm, went to get breakfast, and got everything ready to go. We left around 9:15 a.m. It seemed like forever to get down there. We got down there around 4:30 p.m. and got checked in at the Omni. BEAUTIFUL HOTEL! We got up at the room and first thing we done is turned it on the local channel to see what was going on with the hurricane. We weren’t fretting over it, so we started to get ready and go down to the ballroom. I met some great people at the Decadent Ducks Welcome Party. I met some nice guys from Arkansas and a guy named Beau from the Memphis area. It was really great. Everyone had a great time.
After the party, we went and ate at restaurant at St. Ann and Royal. It was a good little place. Thank you to Joseph for paying the tab. He didn’t have to do that but he wanted to “welcome” all of us to New Orleans. After that, we all headed to the bars. We first went to Good Friends and then we went to Café Lafitte’s. It was so freakin cool. I saw some of my friends from Memphis and a drag queen friend from Tupelo. I was so tired by the end of the night, I just ended up going back to the hotel and going to bed. I figured that I could get a good night sleep and be ready to go out and have a really good time tomorrow night.
The next morning, Charlie, Ty, Lee, & I got up and got ready. We decided to go and eat at Brennen’s for brunch. That restaurant was so amazing. Some of us didn’t like it that much, but I freakin’ loved it. I had the Grillades & Grits & Bananas Foster. I could slap my grandmother because that was so good. After we ate, we went to the hotel and we discussed about leaving on Saturday because that morning, we had received a letter from the hotel detailing the visitor evacuations for Sunday. We were also told that all of the bars were going to close at 6 p.m. on Saturday, so we just left. We left around lunch and headed to Jackson, MS.
In Jackson, we stayed at the Marriott in Downtown. It was a really nice hotel as well. We got there and Joey, Ty, and Lee decided to go get something to eat and me and Charlie went shopping. We went to the new Apple store, Old Navy, and had to go and get some liquor for everyone. After we got back, we all got ready and went to Dick & Jane’s. That was a really nice bar. Everyone was so nice and it felt just like Rumors, but a bit bigger. We stayed out pretty late and I came back to the hotel and went to bed.
The next morning, we got up and repacked everything, ate at the Cracker Barrel in Jackson and came on home. When we got home, I decided to go out in Memphis for a little while and just hang out with some Memphis friends. I think I got home around 3:00 a.m. Decadence was fun, Jackson was fun, & Memphis was fun. So all in all, I had a really good weekend.
I will MOST DEFINITELY going back in 2009. I will probably go by myself or with some friends from Tupelo because they have never been before. So next spring, I will be getting a NE Miss group to go. Well, enough about my weekend. Hope yours was awesome as well.
Take care & have a great week.
